Most Gulf Business Sites Do Not Need Comments. They Attract Spam, Slow Your Site, and Add No Value.
WordPress comments make sense for blogs with an active community. They make no sense for a clinic’s service pages, a law firm’s practice area pages, or an e-commerce store’s product pages. Yet WordPress enables comments by default on every page and post. Disabling them takes minutes and immediately reduces spam, speeds up your database, and removes a moderation burden.
“Comments are for community sites. For business sites, they are a spam magnet and a distraction. Disable them and never think about them again.”
How to Disable Comments
Option 1: Site-wide disable. Settings > Discussion: uncheck “Allow people to submit comments on new posts.” This applies to future content. Option 2: Bulk disable existing comments. In the Posts list, select all posts, choose Edit from the bulk actions menu, and set Comments to “Do not allow.” Repeat for Pages. This disables comments on existing content. Option 3: Disable via plugin. “Disable Comments” plugin removes comments entirely from your WordPress installation — admin menu, settings, and database tables. Option 4: Disable on specific post types. Use code or a plugin to disable comments on pages, products, or custom post types while keeping them on blog posts if desired. For professional site optimisation, see our WordPress Services page.
“Disabling comments is the simplest performance, security, and spam improvement you can make to a business WordPress site. Five minutes. Permanent benefits.”
