Every Unused Theme and Plugin On Your Site Is a Security Risk and a Performance Drain. Remove Them.
The average WordPress site has multiple inactive themes and plugins sitting in the installation. They are not doing anything visible — but they are taking up disk space, appearing in security scans, and potentially containing vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit even if the plugin is deactivated. Deleting them is a security and performance improvement that takes five minutes.

The Cleanup Process
1. Delete inactive plugins. Plugins > All Plugins > Inactive. Select all. Delete. Do not keep plugins for features you might use someday. Install them when you need them. 2. Delete unused themes. Keep one active theme and one default WordPress theme as a fallback. Delete the rest. Each theme is hundreds of files — and each file is a potential vulnerability. 3. Delete old media files. Media > Library: filter by unattached. These are images uploaded to pages or posts that have since been deleted. They are taking up disk space and serving no purpose. 4. Take a backup first.
