When Visitors Finish Reading an Article, Give Them Something Else to Read. Related Posts Keep Them On Your Site.
Related posts at the bottom of an article suggest other content the reader might find interesting. They reduce bounce rate, increase pages per session, and keep visitors on your site longer — all signals that Google notices and rewards with better rankings. Many themes include related posts. If yours does not, here is how to add them.
“Every article is a dead end unless you give the reader somewhere to go next. Related posts turn dead ends into journeys.”
Displaying Related Posts
Method 1: Theme built-in. Astra, GeneratePress, and Blocksy all include related posts sections that can be enabled in the Customiser. Check your theme before looking for other options. Method 2: Jetpack Related Posts. Free module within the Jetpack plugin. Analyses your content and displays contextually relevant posts. Works without slowing your site because the processing happens on Jetpack’s servers. Method 3: Manual. At the end of each article, manually add links to 2-3 related posts with a brief description. More work, but complete control over what visitors see next. Method 4: Category-based. Display posts from the same category using a shortcode or Gutenberg Query Loop block — filtered by category, ordered by date. For professional implementation, see our WordPress Services page.
“Related posts are not an afterthought — they are a retention strategy. Every article you publish should guide readers to your next best content.”
